A South Carolina Roman Catholic priest has told his parishioners that they should refrain from receiving Holy Communion if they voted for Barack Obama because the Democratic president-elect supports abortion.

- Agreed. I don't understand people who think telling the truth means being brutally honest to every detail and even to the point of cruelty/rudeness.

- Neither do I. I really do always tell the truth even if it's moderated. I cringed at the example the author gave. "DO you tell your spouse the look fat in those pants?" Um no because that's mean, but I would say "Hey those don't flatter you" then drop it.

- Really because I was terrified to tell the truth if I did something 'wrong' for the beating I would get. In fact I became afraid to tell my parents much of anything at all, I shut them out.

- I have to say the responses in favor of the parents in Mike's anecdote are a little concerning. The whole purpose of raising a child is to raise them to be a functional adult.

- the chauvinist comment is because "because his teacher-wife did not want to paid a sub so she could stay home with her kid." He didn't bring the child to class because SHE didn't want to do blah blah blah to stay home with the kid.

- No it is free - there is no financial cost to you to use the service. By using the service you agree to provide data. It's an agreement you are entering into. Don't like the terms, don't sign up. Very very simple.

- Or...sign up for Google and just don't use the gmail or + accounts? I mean really, Google provides a service at a reasonable cost (free). If you don't like the attached strings don't use them. What about deleting them after you're "forced" to create them - did you look into that?

- All I have to say is, DUH! I've been complaining about the appalling lack of recess and p.e. since my daughter started K. She's now in 5th. They are children not robots. They need to play and burn off energy. But no, instead the U.S.

- The aren't whining but they obviously are not financially solvent. I never said or intimated they had luxury cars - they own their cars so it doesn't even matter what type they are.
